A pal has asked what to get his son for an active speaker set that can wire into his Xbox ( a wiim streamer is next. Up to £250 what have you got for sale or would recommend?
The Steljes NS3 have been around for a decade or so now so perhaps someone’s eyed them up and come out with something better. I like mine though. But like all speakers so much depends on the listener’s environment and musical preferences.
New they’re out of price range now but it seems plenty were/are sold so they appear on eBay pretty often. They come in a whole range of colours.

Could use that as a streamer. Might be noisy, but would mean no need to change sources.
Loads of ways to get music to an Xbox, probably has clients for Spotify etc built in.

Maybe Yamaha HS5, £30 over budget new or buy second hand.
Son has HS7 and they are great for the cash, not much more than the HS5.
Adam also do good value powered monitors, studio stuff always seems much better value than HiFi

That’s what he’s using now , blew his little bose numbers so his dad is looking for a Christmas speaker upgrade.
And his dad uses his Manchester flat hence the two birds
I looked at them and wondered , good to hear they are decent enough
I have a pair of Cambridge Audio bookshelf active speakers that I used to use with a TV.
They are in their original box in the loft.
I will have a look and find the model number and see if I can find some specs.

Could get a little Bluetooth in, rca out micro box for about £15

Depends on the generation. Older ones probably have better, newer ones might be hdmi only

For reference, Plex using to be called XBMC, Xbox media centre. People used them for streaming films and music even in the early days.
There’s a lot of good reasons get a streamer, sure, but he might have a better one already, so it’s worth checking! Spend the extra money on the speakers if so.
