In Darwin? Good question. I’ve only been there twice. I didn’t spot any childish fun where we stayed in Cullen Bay. Maybe it is great in the rainy season…

Lots of lovely humidity too. I nearly forgot about that. I love a bit of humidity. It turns every walk into a sweat, chafe and waddle.

I don’t mind humidity (I love SEAsia), but Darwin humidity is summat else. Not much goes on apart from sweating, so no point going in the dry.

I’ve been trialing Luminar editing suite for nearly a week now and I’m reasonably impressed but it’s about to come to an end. It does do some bizarre things tho’
I’m currently downloading Capture One for Sony and this time it’s a 30 day trial (makes much more sense, at least it gives you enough time to explore the options)
*Any others I should try before I commit?
*Not Lightroom, I’ve had it in the past and don’t get on with it for some reason.
BTW, I’m not keen on subscription software

Like you I am against subscription stuff - I have capture one and it didn’t take too long to use it effectively . My mac does crash if I get too finger happy though. I did use lightroom in the past capture one is a similar type of thing

I used photoshop as well as lightroom so the subscription is great. Been using both so long I think my brain would melt trying to use anything else.
You could try Gimp out. It’s fairly powerful and free/open source. Nothing lost in trying it.
I’ve had Gimp for a couple of years, but it’s quite limited and fairly crude for some operations.
I’d say give Lightroom another try. Yes, the subscription is a pain, but ultimately as with most software, you get some free upgrades, and then have to pay to upgrade again, so it ends up costing you much the same in the long run.
I do find Lightroom annoying in several ways (the cataloguing and import mainly) but it’s pretty much a de facto standard, which means lots of tutorials and stuff.
Hmmm, I’ll see how I get on with the Capture1 and then try the 7 day Lightroom/Photoshop trial.

Yes, reasonably pleased. Still much improvement to come, I hope.
I’m delighted with the camera/lens I just need to improve my technique to do them justice. Early days though, I’ll get there.
