Actual photography

The above photo was taken on my Samsung S24 Ultra. Similar shots taken with my Olympus E-M1 mk2 are not even worth posting.

Smartphone photography, with all its AI trickery, really is quite amazing…

Another of ‘those’ nights where 4 hours stood in a field looking at endless clouds was outdone by iPhone 15 pros being pointed up elsewhere at a clear sky.

Such a shame, as I’ve never seen such clear colours and columns to the naked eye as there were on Thursday night

Wotchoo talking about? That’s a glorious image - indeed, all the most interesting aurora pics I’ve seen were taken by people in areas with a bit of cloud: gives more depth and contrast to the images.

When I was trying (and failing as usual) to get a decent pic, the whole sky was so lit-up that the images were all boringly uniform.

That’s kind. I’d still have preferred much less cloud, but it’s a good point you make.

For most of the red-light storm (visible with the naked eye) cloud cover was solid save for this one gap

I’d also planned to be a lot closer to the windmill than I was, but the nearest field was unexpectedly full of cows, and I wasnt totally chilled about going in there in the pitch black

I think the clouds make these pictures, so much more colour and texture contrast. Great location too

Mostly what he wears, with headphones - 16, not exactly effusive or great company but when I do get through he’s a lovely lad.

Found this photo of my system from 2015.

Don’t have one bit of it left now - I do think now trading in the Xtension 10 was a mistake but hey ho.

Lovely pic.

I get tempted by direct drive and rumble-wheel TTs sometimes, but while the Xtension 10 isn’t the best at anything, it sounds superb with good quality vinyl and still manages to flatter the junk - I can’t justify multiple TTs for the relatively small amounts of vinyl I play, so I’d hate to see it go… It just has the wrong badge on it to ever be taken seriously outside these four walls!

I must be honest my Reloop Turn 5 DD with the Acoustic Signature MCX 1 cart I have now is probably about 80% of the way there sound-wise in comparison.

However the rest of my set up is leagues better now and I think the Xtension would sound fantastic in my current set up - sigh.
