Love Harrogate Odeon, £32k well spent.
Originally a single screen cinema with seating for an audience of 1647.
All the Shakespearo’s would agree
As they watched their Rome burn.
If they could see the screen with 1647 people smoking woodbines.
I’ve had plenty. There’s a few nice ones knocking about the house, including my Lumix, my son’s medium format Mamiya and a couple of Canon DSLRs… One of which I think is mine.
I can never be arsed to take them out because this device in my hands is so good.
I have to say though, I am often tempted by something special. My son works for https://www.mpb.com/en-uk/ and sends me tempters on second hand kit like this as it comes in…
WhatsApps weekly, Dad, get this. It’s only £6k…yeah ok son, I’ll pop down in my ferrari to pick it up.
I get all that mate and phone cameras have come on a storm. I take plenty with my iPhone but they’re never gonna replace a camera, for me anyway.
YMMV
That Leica is lovely but it’s not for me.
I’d actually LOVE a decent Sony Alpha and a couple of decent lenses. But much much more than that I want the time to go and actually use them, and enjoy the whole process. Having one without the other means cash tied up, getting dusty in its box…
Until then, I’m enjoying squeezing the occasional above average snap out of this Samsung. It’s limitations force effort and creativity and that’s quite fun in itself.
Keep them coming, I’m certainly enjoying them.
Thanks mate.
Me too. Always great light
phone is my chosen tool for taking pictures- it does present challenges, but the Leica now remains firmly on the shelf.
For wildlife etc I still stick to my DSLR with long lens. But these are now specifically planned trips. Anything impromptu uses my Note20 Ultra.
Went to Chester Zoo the other day. My brother’s just got into photography and took some exceptional photos. Two highlights:
I was up in Eryri last week, for the first time in years. I was totally blown away by it all over again. Went to Dinas Emrys for the first time, which I can’t believe I’d never visited before.
Atmospheric place…the walk over to Hafod y Llan from there is only a little off the beaten track of the Watkin path but you usually get it to yourself. Nice ruined old mine up there too.
Old photo thread got me looking at my ‘tourist’ NYC photos from pre-pandemic:
Rockerfeller
Brooklyn Bridge 6am (freezing)
Manhattan
That Rockerfeller is a cracker Ben.
Funnily enough I was doing the same today with some of my holiday snaps as I fancy getting a few printed up at a decent size and maybe get a couple framed.
Love the Rockerfeller one!
Nice shots and thanks Al, looking back makes me realise how parochial life became in lockdown.
Miine where taken 11 years ago
Ah mine were 2018
