All the Football (Part 2)

Don’t know if she can take penalties like her namesake. Or if she’s a batshit, conspiracy theorist buffoon.

The former is preferable, the latter

Was going to say the Swiss have done really well, with some luck, but I expected Spain to be 3 up by now.
Think the rest of the teams left would have struggled against the Swiss.

Up The Pesky Bulls , now including 43 year-old ex Everton and England U-21 centre half Peter Clarke

Amazing effort from Germany
Hopefully some better penalties tonight

That French run up

Just saw a clip of the goal-line save by the German keeper from that very looping header - seriously impressive stuff!

I watched it on the telly (interrupted only by nipping to the kitchen every so often for another glass and a peek at a slow-bubbling batch of chilli for the freezer).

It was Berger’s night. The TV spotted the notes about the French penalty takers that she’d taped to her water bottle. I think she dived to her left five times out of six. The one time she didn’t she guessed wrong. But three of the five left dives were wrong too. The two correct ones were the ones that mattered though.

The art of penalties

Le tiss and shearer two of the best I’ve seen. Shearer a bit more of a blaster but with accuracy,le tiss more of a placer

I think I heard the commentators say last night that 50% of the penalties in the competition so far have either been saved or missed. I was surprised.

This tweet, referring to Celtic v Newcastle yesterday, made me chuckle.

We had some top players missing but I’d have expected a better showing than that to be honest, disappointing.

A good amount after support had travelled at least but you’d think the players would want to be at their best for that. I can’t really see how the training camp took too much out of them, I mean, we have a very difficult season coming up with a lot of games.

I still have faith in Howe but he hasn’t really had a poor season yet…

We started the game with half of our first team on the bench. They were introduced on 60 minutes along with a bunch of kids so at no stage was our strongest team on the pitch.

Your pressing in the opening 15 minutes was pretty good and if you’d taken your chances the game could have turned out very differently.

We’ve already played a few friendlies this close season and I think we’re much further ahead of you in respect of general fitness and match sharpness.

Yeah, my point was that it was no excuse.

There is this but any loss is crap. At least it’s pre-season though and we still have time/games before the start.

To be honest I’m not bothered about getting beat but 4-0 is crap, I want to see us scoring.

Newcastle fans can relax for another season then? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I think it depends if we can offload Chiesa and/or Nunez.
(Although they both played well in the recent friendly against Stoke)

but Stoke

every player has his level
