The wife bought
so it was halloumi and pepper (etc.) kebabs tonight
She does a lot from Persiana which I really like.
Sirocco is another good one from Ghayour.
Haloumi, mint & quinoa burger recipe.
Ingredients
- Block of haloumi, rinsed, dried and grated
- 1 medium courgette, grated and throughly squeezed with a towel etc to remove as much excess water as humanly possible - this has a direct affect on the quality of the finished burger
- Handful of fresh mint, chopped finely
- About 75g of quinoa brought to boil in fresh unsalted water and then removed and drained till cool. I use mixed quinoa that you can get from Sainsburys
- 1 egg (or egg substitute)
- Juice from half a lemon - add gradually so as not to make your mixture runny
- Rapeseed oil
- 1 small red chilli (optional) very finely diced
- Also optional - I quite like to add 50g of rice flour, it adds a teeny bit of texture and rice flour brings a bit of crunch vs using other flours (which if you don’t have rice flour then just leave out)
Method
- After prepping everything as per the ingredients then mix in a bowl until you get a nice thick stodgy mixture
- Cover the bowl and place in fridge for at least 1 hours
- Remove and either shape by hand or use baking rings
- Cover and back in fridge for another hour
- Heat small amount of oil in pan and fry these on medium heat for about 4 mins per side
These go well with tomato, onion and chilli relish, and either in a bun or pitta with a crunchy salad.

Can’t actually remember which paticularly Cunty Tory it was that said we should all be grateful for their NHS as most of the hospital facilities were just like glorified health spa’s?
In some ways he was spot on… The facilities are second to none, the food is often better than most High Street fast food joints (the tomato, lentil & red pepper soup in particular is deffo a winner), & the service, whilst often stretched beyond it’s means, remains cheerful at all times! Thankfully as the tories have now fucked off to the back of beyond there is hope it may even improve?
Started a beef bourguignon for tomorrow’s dinner. Should be enough for about 8 portions. Smells incredible.
Didn’t have any baby onions so had to use echalion shallots, can’t see it being a major issue.
Haha first thing I was looking for
I’ll stop now
Nairn’s rough oatcakes buttered & lathered up with Garlic & Herb Roulé. Smoked salmon drizzled with freshly squeezed lemon juice topping on four & lumpfish caviar on the remainder.
I like the careful colour matching of the mustard and the meal.
Beige is best.
Beef Bourguignon & buttered mash with parmesan & chives.
And a bottle of Bordeaux to wash it down with.
Aubergine and halloumi burger.

(and if you think that’s weird you should see the dinosaurs)
The dinos are not weird. They’re real ones having a bit of a rest
