Con carne ?

Sweet potato or squash are good additions. Sometimes I’ll grate the sweet potato to give a bit of mince like texture

Not tonights din dins, but a purchase from last nights weekly shop that I am very pleased with & most looking forward to in a decent sized batch curry in t’ middle of next week.

1.54kg of mutton neck which is a fave cut of mine fer currys & stews in dark ale. Its currently a much bigger bargain than usual at only £6-99 a kilo.

I’m currently salivating at the prospect of eventually tucking in. It’ll either be a balti or jalfrezi & I managed to pick up some ghost chillies too last night so it’ll have some assertive heat with plenty of fresh ginger too.

If I allow 3 neck pieces per portion I’ll get at least 5 very generous portions.

Corned beef, diced gammon steak, red onions, garlic, rosemary 'n black pepper, Parmentier potatoes, celery & carrots. Hearty splosh of Worcestershire sauce & half a tube of tomatoe puree.

Just went with a side of buttered farmhouse wholemeal bread. Had considered serving with baked beans & a fried egg. Have several portions left over so may serve it this way tomozzer.

I’d have gone to Barnecutts but their shop is a bit far out of the town centre & we were on foot. The Niles one was good though if not quite Barnecutts :grinning:

That looks lovely. Wherefore art thou recipe ?

I’ll post it tomorrow when I get chance if that’s okay. It was a bit of a variation along the lines of what have I got in the cupboard.

Better than Philps?
They are the best I’ve had when I used to go to Hayle / st Ives area 20 years ago

I’m sure I’ve had a Philos but too long ago to remember. I’ll have to do more research.
