Another LCR phono (aka BTJ-9000S)

thanks for the detailed info. i’m aware of the 600 ohm network issues (vs 10k), however i’m considering an already made unit so most of them are already addressed by thorsten and the builder. i was surprised with the mentioned S&B network - never heard about it before - and now it seems (apparently) that silk one was a reversed engineered one upon it.

i do have a LCR based phono for quite some time (as well as another RL one, FWIW). i do think that shishido one I have can be bettered sound wise, hence my current curiosity. or i’m bored, which is more certain.

I suspect Thorsten got them to copy the Tango while he was getting them to do the TVC’s.

Peter at Acoustic Dimension also has a ready built 600 ohm unit if you want to go that way

This doesn’t look bad. S&B was 720 Euros inc 20% VAT.

Hashimoto make the H-EQL which has just the coils for a 600 Ohm network. Acoustic Dimension have those for 576 Euro per pair.

Sowter also do two coils in a can, just add your own R and C

I think Thrax use it. Perhaps Remton aswell.

I have some of those. Project gone a bit Rabski though.

looks like Thrax and Remton may use custom single coils in single cans

Possibly. We met the guy from Thrax at ETF & he was talking there about getting coils from Sowter.

Thrax coils:

Remton LCR mk2

possibly neither want to work with 600 ohm version, and have gone for 2 can approach, which possibly helps matching sets together

So, input and output connectors for stereo but only 5" x 6" x 7" or so inside. Hmmm. What sort of a valve amp would fit in there ? I was going to say a hybrid one. But the speaker conns suggest a tapped output transformer, so no.

VB

For a posh Raspberry Pi innit.
