Digging them up tonight Kev!
You feeling yourself Kev ? Bit concerned here.
I’m fine Mike.
I have always had a folk collection, some of it hasn’t been played for years, sometimes I come across some really old records. Topic probably single handedly saved English folk music from a recording POV
OK, so please bear with me with this Jazz thang, yet again. I quite like this Album, paricularly Slow Drag (but not Spoo Pee Doo) and also this -
which I’m listening to now.
So, what style of Jazz is this and any other recos that can help me hone in on what I should be listening to ?
Thanks for your help.
Yeah, I get how Spoo Pee doo could easily jar, whilst stylistically interesting perhaps I would agree its the weakest number on the album as a whole.
Full credit to sticking through til the end, given yer overall view of t’ album it sounds at least worthwhile.
Cool struttin’_" is kinda hard boppish in a fairly swinging manner. Doesn’t surprise me ya like it bearing in mind you’ve mentioned liking Yusef Lateef.
Seems funky jazz floats yer boat a bit so maybe “Backlash” by Freddie Hubbard
Another one by Archie Shepp. >
A fairly accessible & pretty funky album.
Yes, it was worthwhile. Thanks Chris, appreciated. I’ll give them a spin.
