The Welch Regiment if you didnât already know.
Doubt if he would have been in Overlord though as the Welch fought in North Africa as part of the 8th.
Heâs got an Army Fire Service patch.
They were definitely in Normandy:

Possibly but I think the AFS were part of logistics or had their own regiment, like many side roles you could be badged for something under your own cap badge. I knew a guy who was EOD qualified so had the bomb disposal badge on his forearm but was still Royal Signals.
WW2 was a hodge podge of people so he could have been anywhere I suppose.
Yes, The Welch. I also have his regimental blazer badge. You can doubt all you like, but I will take his word over yours.
I was only trying to help, I assumed you didnât know anything about his service and were getting his records to find out. My grandfather didnât talk to anyone about WW2 so we had no idea what he did and it took some research to find out.
Yeah, I know. I didnât make it clear that we at least have an idea where he served, so apologies for the snappy post.
My grandad was just starting to talk to 18 year old me about things when he passed away. He was very open about some of the things he saw as a serving fire officer of 25+ years, but like most of them he spoke little of the war.
That NY one is great, you can see how people thought the age of the Jetsons wasnât too far off.
Itâs definitely got that type of feeling about it - I would love a large format print of it
