Convoy Passing An Island, Eric Ravilious, 1941.
Made when Ravilious visited the Isle of May, in the mouth of the Firth of Forth, Autumn 1941.
A very evocative painting - I wonder how many of those ships survived.

I stand to be corrected by @Tons_of_fun but I think most airplanes were used purely for reconnaissance rather than bombing at that stage.
@crimsondonkey s basement conversion is coming on. Most purposeful and in keeping with his aesthetic right down to the flares.

The last time I saw Martin and Norma play together was about 10 years ago in a folk club in Lewes (Room above the bar in The Royal Oak).
Norma was not well then, and sat down through the performance and looked very frail.
When she sang she transformed, it was like the years were shrugged off and she had a smile on her face.
When you see Martin perform he is nervous as anything and spends as much time tuning his guitar as playing it, but when he plays with Norma she just gives him a look and he totally relaxes and stops all that behaviour.
