I read that last week, all interesting stuff. I was in conversation with a mate about Les Paul guitars. He has a collection of guitars and he showed me reports of some of the big prices for the Les Paul.
I did a bit of research into them. It seems that Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones kicked started the 60s demand for them.

Yesterday’s walk (too far, too hot) took me through Hampstead Norreys and onwards to Ashampstead. Between the two is Haw Farm, which has an airstrip (relic from WW2). This is what the footpath looks like

(again someone else’s picture - one Jon Wickenden for the sake of crediting him). Apparently it’s this de Havilland Tiger Moth II. I was surprised to see it sitting in very rural West Berks on such open display. Then again the climb out of Hampstead Norreys is short but so bloody steep that maybe the path doesn’t get much use.
