Seems to have started off blue
Bloody nice house. Canât say I have much time for the universality of grey right now, but otherwise doesnât seem far off the usual palette for its time - dark windows / light walls. Iâve not often seen listings specify colours. Agree about the landscaping though.
@Gyroscope
Probably best if you donât follow this site
I follow Shit Planning so get a lot of Newbuild Hate and Shit Lawns pushed my way.
Ugly Belgian Houses is a hoot too.
I prefer the black windows over the red,but somehow it looks all wrong
House via Ross Kemp folds.
I donât mind the increasingly ubiquitous grey but the rise in huge pivot doors for a front door is annoying. And will look really dumb once the fad wears off.
This is a great thread.
Sorry itâs Twitter, but itâs Twitter, not really something I can transcribe here.
And the developers trying to knock the building down have probably unwittingly aroused the ire of the entire C20, Modernist, retro-first and all points in between Twitter lynch mob
Yep, pitchforks and burning torches at the ready.
Better photo of the mural.
If I was the developer I would have knocked it on the head and gone to the pub by now.
Thanks for sharing. Found further information on Dalle de Verre just now:
I forgot that I took this as I was passing this afternoon.
Former US Embassy, Grosvenor Square, London.
Completed in 1960.
Eero Saarinen.
I think itâs going to be a hotel, although I suspect not for me and my Travelodge budget.
Did a brief training day in there in the early 80s.
Thing I remember the most was that the massive hamburgers were shit.
Fully understandable with your âIâve been abandoned so eating out (in really nice restaurants) habitsâ
I can totally understand it, as I just donât understand hotels.
All I ever want from a hotel is a clean bed and a slightly decadent breakfast. Having lots of people hanging around wearing white gloves and willing to undertake minor tasks for me is, frankly, bizarre. Iâd quite like nice architecture, but the grand old Victorian hotels tend to be utterly gruesome after a century of neglect.
Whereas eating out well is a great experience and provides good jobs, contributing to society etc etc.
TBH thatâs probably the point around here.
I HAVE A BURGLAR ALARM. DONâT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.
We have one (a very swanky one according to the service guys) that hasnât been switched on since the beginning of locky D. Yet another thing on the âreally should sort that shit outâ list.
You can officially self-administer a good mangling for that.
you should start a marketing campaign for that, call it something like âeat out to help outâ
