Actually no more heavy than a good blast of Sabbath. Meshuggah are at the extreme end of prog-metal.
I don’t mind the music at all. It’s the “devil’s growl” vocals that piss me off.

The vocal style can be difficult to get past which is unfortunate because there is some incredible musicianship to be discovered. Meshuggah, for example, are like a Black & Decker to the head but rhythmically, when you listen, are jaw-dropping.
Yeah, I’ve tried a lot of those bands (hell, they are a stream of Prog) but really struggle too much with the vocals.
Never mind. We are all drawn to different things.
