We have done no such thing, yet. There is an awful lot of reaching and willingness to grab on to the least probable outcome and run with it in this thread.
Which is why they said it was military grade (i.e very pure) but couldn’t state where it was made.
Again given their expertise and experience the likelihood is that a state lab made it but there is not concrete evidence it was Russia.
I’m pretty sure it was made in a state lab - the target was not one that terrorists or criminals (the only two other even remotely possible perpetrators) would have chosen. The only question is which state ? Don’t get me wrong - I think circumstantial evidence points overwhelmingly at the Russians. But it’s not scientific proof, which is a very tough thing. Even DNA matching or fingerprints or ballistics analysis are uncertain at some statistical level, so not absolute.

Are you talking about May & Johnson’s contributions so far or something else?
Whilst the epithet, “Don’t shoot the messenger” wouldn’t necessarily apply in their case, don’t shoot the messenger
Those damn Ruski’s, that Corbyn bloke is a bit of a commie. Look how strong our government is and how lots of other countries fell in line because we are Great Britain. Thank you BBC
I also suspect it is Russia but it will take time to prove it.
I believe that given enough time the security services and police will be able to trace with some certainty the path back to the source as they did in the Litvinenko case.
Fair enough, we disagree. You are no more likely to be correct than I. As for the expenditure of capital and the implications:
Twenty-nine countries and Nato carried out a mass expulsion of almost 150 Russians working under diplomatic credentials after Britain provided information which pointed to Vladimir Putin’s government as responsible for Salisbury attack.
“Unprecedented levels of intelligence” had been divulged to convince these states, said senior government officials, including conclusions of Porton Down and an explanation of how this was obtained.
However, in addition, highly classified information, which is normally shared only between the “Five Eyes” countries – UK, US, Australia, New Zealand and Canada – was supplied to close allies with the National Security Advisor, Sir Mark Sedwill, taking it to the European Union and the North Atlanic Council. Other countries were given differing levels of intelligence.
Quote taken from this:
After all this we can prove nothing. I don’t doubt the Russians did it, I just think we’ve been fairly ham-fisted in dealing with the politics of the issue. Next time support is needed, just how much more leverage or stronger evidence, or both will be required to generate the support. There are plenty of other pieces on the web expressing similar views although not so many are freely accessible.
Russia attacking a Russian defector with a Russian nerve agent is very blatant. It’s as though a British defector was found dead in Moscow with John Steed’s monogrammed umbrella rammed up his arse.
If it was Putin’s doing - and it probably was - then clearly he sees the propaganda win at home as worth much more than the feeble yapping of a soon-to-be weak and friendless Britain.
No, I’m much more likely to be correct.

Yup, that’s what comes of fucking up in Iraq and Afgan and then leaving a vacuum for Putin to fill. Nice work on Putin’s part though. he hasn’t done bad; Syria, Ukraine, Georgia etc. For a country with such a small GDP he does rather well in fact.
As is Russia’s style and state killings outside Russia were made legal in 2006

Good quote in this one too:
But in contrast to Porton Down’s remarks, some had seized on an interview Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson gave to German Deutsche Welle where he said the laboratory was “absolutely categorical” that Russia was behind the attack. Johnson said: “I asked the guy myself, I said, ‘Are you sure?’ And he said there’s no doubt.”
Interesting given that appears to be a contradiction of Gary Aitkenhead’s comments on behalf of Porton Down.
It’s interesting to me that despite my lefty liberal views, when I play Civilization I basically play exactly as Putin does in real life.
“… which has an unparalleled record of mendacity, misrepresentation, disloyalty and dishonesty.”
Don’t forget perfidy…
Gary Aitkenhead will soon be leaving PD to pursue other opportunities in the market place, we thank Gary for his dedicated service.
It’s Boris Johnson. He has a track record of lying. You can fool some of the people all of the time. As long as it’s more than 50% then in a democracy that’s enough to stay in power. Putin lies too, but he doesn’t have to rely on voters to stay in power. So he can be entirely bare-faced and wink while he’s doing it. In fact his supporters seem to like that.
