Artemis Launch

It uses a number of left over bits from the Shuttle, I think, only in larger quantities. The Shuttle was a bit marginal for launch reliability, at least to begin with. I wonder whether they’re suffering from some combination of too large a component count (“wire enough of those damn things into the system and you can be sure that one of them will fail when you need it”) and too little on-the-ground expertise (when you’ve been launching several times a year for a few years you get to know where things need to be done absolutely perfectly, but that knowledge can disappear once Tom, Dick and Harry have all (been) moved on) ?

“NASA Administrator Bill Nelson reminded that the shuttle was sent back to the Vehicle Assembly Building 20 times before it launched.”

Blimey, anyone would think we’ve not been to the moon before……

Special effects and CGI costs have risen so much it’s become cheaper to actually attempt it.

Leaky seals replaced.
23rd Sept penciled in for 3rd launch attempt, assuming the fueling tests on the 17th are pased.

Now delayed to 27th September.

Could they wait til Nov 5th? Tradition and all that.
