Audi A2. The best car I've owned

Conversely, for the past 2 years I was convinced that our old 13 plate Fiat 500 Pop (love that car) would fail but ,both times, it edged through with advisories, this last time was a bit more concerning, but, hey … a pass is a pass !!!

How many miles a year do you think you put on it?

It’s an impressive total.

Cheers! Annual mileage has reduced considerably due to ULEZ and public transport use, however in twelve years, I have put almost 170,000 miles on Alison! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Congrats to Alison!

Michelle’s car passed too but with advisories, booked in to be sorted next month.

Cheers!

Hopefully those advisories will be sorted and not be too costly!

The passenger door inner panel seal for Alison is gonna be £200 but that’s ok; cheaper than a swimming pool!

Luckily it’s routine stuff: deteriorated cv boot, exhaust hanger, front tyres. Will have oil and filters etc while its in. Can’t really complain.

How are you fixing your leaky door?

Glad it’s nothing too nasty re advisories!

Thinking about just getting her to the usual garage- the workmanship is bob on and I might as wellnget the checkstrap done as well.

Otherwise I’d have done it myself. Or tried to. At least I saved money changing Expansion Tank myself!

I’ve had the doors apart on both A2s to do the checkstraps, slightly fiddly but straightforward enough to do. Are you getting checkstraps from the guy on A2OC?

No, a number of people had the brass roller type and are returning to OEM; I’ll stick with OEM as they lasted not far short of a quarter century.

Actually this is a mad thing- when I first started driving in 1998, ten year old cars were generally rough and rusty…

Have to remind myself that Alison is 23 this year!

Just in case you havent seen it.
Videos on maintenance on the A2

Having seen the factory parts that came out of two A2s, I’m happy to have replaced them with the remanufactured bolt-together version with brass rollers. ymmv

Meh. It’ll be 1m longer, 1m wider and 1 tonne heavier than a real A2, thus completely missing the point.

Exactly. Alison is capable of a trip to Brussels from the Kent\Sussex border and back with a couple of trips between- on 34 litres of diesel.

Real life fuel economy without trying. A true successor would have a carbon fibre and aluminum structure with advanced solid state batteries and a massive range.

Probably!
