Building costs

Possibly, tho garage has asbestos roof and is about 10” from neighbours shed. I don’t want to be buying them a new shed.
I’d rather not go that route.

Fair enough. Can you stick a big fuck-off shipping container on the spot and suggest the irate neighbourhood donates toward the rebuild cost or it stays?

Asbestos removal :face_holding_back_tears: £££

Yeah, that bit was missing from the OP

Well, that would need a base to put it in.

A friend had a full asbestos garage removed around 6 weeks ago, £1200. I’m trying to get a quote from that company but would still leave me needing a base.

Get a quote from that company :+1:

Just get them to drop the container onto the existing garage = demolition sorted + added eyesore value - it’s like GoFundMe for sociopaths :+1:

Should’ve known asking here was like pissing in the wind.

Why does the concrete base need to come up?

@J_B would a resin or concrete skim be suitable?

Cos it’s fucked. Big cracks and it’s breaking up.

I would be inclined to get two prices. One for demolishing the existing garage, disposing of it all, including the asbestos and leaving the site bare. Then get a separate price for the new slab/retaining wall.

It may be the case that a specialist demolition company with their own plant might be cheaper than a builder for that element of the work.

That’s what I’m trying to do. I’m waiting for a demolition company to call back and have a ground works company coming round to quote sometime this week.

The garage itself will be similar to this, around 3.5 x 6m. Cost is 4.3k. The concrete base is 12m as there is standing for a car in front of garage and I need room to get bikes in and out.

Ultimately I need something secure to stop any more bike thefts. The garage will have no windows or pedestrian door, roof will have steel mesh welded in place under the roofing sheets and the door will have ground bolts and a gate in front.

Inside will be a steel cage to contain the bike.
Many layers of security to make it time consuming and noisy for the little shits.
The last break in, entered through window, used grinder on locks and unbolted door from hangers inside.

How many days and how many people will be on site?

£300 a day, minimum per person.
Plus materials, skip hire etc
Plus vat

Absolutely no idea, that’s why I got a builder to quote

My question was based on the quote giving you a bit of a breakdown of the costs.

That wasn’t supplied in the quote. Just list of work items.

Ask how many days it will take and roughly how many people will be there.
