Carnage

One could certainly make a nice 2 bed apartment out of the cartons they come in.

Would they work in a very small room ?

His quest for a replacement for the NS1000s has clearly taken him down some tough paths. I note that he’s kept them close at hand though, for when it becomes clear that those monsters won’t do. Maybe the big’uns are just there to soften his family up before the Hecos are delivered ?

Kenrick refurb NS1000s and make them very pretty.

The look is obviously a matter of personal taste. I can understand why some people might find the monitor version - the NS1000M - a bit industrial for their living room, although I can equally understand why others might think they’re fine. My domestic ones - the straight NS1000s (characterised by being a lot heavier than the M’s and also by not having a mesh over the woofer) - are finished in polished ebony veneer. When Mrs VB first saw them her response was “Only the Japanese could make hardwood look like plastic”.

And also slightly larger.

Yes, they’d disappear into the room within a couple of hours

They did sound fantastic, and sonically didn’t overpower the room as I sort of expected them to when I actually clapped eyes on them, as you know they are a big visual statement.

I think the Direkts might be the domestically acceptable sweet spot for “normal” sized rooms.

She loved the sound of them at Sodder’s, but was very clear that there was a snowflake’s chance in Hell of them ever being allowed in the Cottage.

He tried the bigger ones standing behind first but couldn’t get along with the high gloss rosewood veneer.
That is “Mr Kenrick” is it not?

Blimey, hadn’t realised he had died!

See obituary section. Beginning of June

Apparently Brook has dropped the idea, probably the thought of having to deal with the NVA forum lot made his mind up for him.

The two way Direkts were great when I used them at Cranage 3 years ago, very easy to site in the room and really nice effortless sound

I really fancy the white 3 ways, and have a yes from swmbo, and wanted to hear them at Carnage this year but couldn’t make it due to work reasons

Jon and I heard them at Munich that year as well and Jon requested Paranoid by Black Sabbath, they sounded fab. Also in the Silbatone room that year Whole Lotta Love sounded great thro’ some giant Western Electric speakers. Respect man.
