Chess, I'm rubbish at it

This thread has encouraged me to have a few 5 minute games.
here is one that I won a few mins ago. I was behind until nearly the end.

Oh nice one, Sam and I are going to try and play at least every weekend.

I have been practicing my speed chess (all moves in five minutes) and currently and have improved my score from 1280 to 1400. Poor but I am improving a little.

Just finished a game with a flourish of three queens and just eight seconds to spare.

Going to try and beat Sam tomorrow, we didn’t play last weekend, and I feel the need.
Works been manic and I haven’t had the energy to practice.

That is something you don’t see every day.
In fact that is the first time I have ever seen it

Although it is not unheard of

You need to watch what you are doing with mutiple queens on the board, it is far too easy to give your opponent stalemate if you are not careful

One all.

The first game I went all out attack and took heavy losses…

Second game I was a little more canny and gave him the run around, couldn’t get him in check mate, but his situation was hopeless and he was forced to resign.

Fischer Random (Chess960) tournament starting today.
$200K to the winner

If you have never heard of this format the pawns are all on the second rank as normal but the position of the back rank is randomised. I think the bishops still have to be on opposite colour squares but that is the only rule. There are 960 options for this hence the name.
It is supposed to encourage more innovative chess rather than players relying on memorising standard openings

It’d be interesting to see what the contestants would choose if they could pick their own arrangement for the pieces in the back row. I guess they’d want to see what their opponent was starting with but it’d be fun if they couldn’t and had to just do it blind as it were.

Presumably castling would have to have certain rules if the rooks began in some odd position ie both hard to one side with the King at the other side.

Both players start from the same opposite positions.
Not sure that castling is alliwed

Apparantly this will be a Random 959 competition.
One of the possible variations has been banned.
