This evening I was listening for the first time to Mendelssohn on random play vas Spotify.
Yes I know, but I am a shallow beast and know little outside of my usual Baroque toons.
What popped up was - Die erste Walpurgisnacht which was performed by The Cleveland Orchestra, with Christoph von Dohnányi conducting.
I am aghast at how epic this is.
Can those who know recommend the best version before I invest my life savings in every interpretation that is available.

That combination is always a good choice.
Good interperations, quality playing, and very good recordings.
