1930’s Kano
1930’s Longines
I have to say I fucking loathe this style of watch, it’s just monumentally boring, dial, hands, indices, all vanilla pabulum with no character or soul. Then occasionally an attempted character injection occurs with numbers going every which fucking way which isn’t character it’s an eyesore.
The final nail in this awful styles coffin is that it’s usually only available in tiny sizes 36-39mm, yes there may be some over 40mm but that violates the kombatcha drinking, man bun sporting, zero prescription glasses wearing twatwaffle wearing its’ idea of ‘minimalism’
I realize I’m probably in the minority on this one, but I just HAD to share.
Small is small, screw from a ladies 1920s watch that was water damaged, been polishing the heads to remove surface rust.
I don’t even.
At-all.
Ever.
Respect
How did they make shit like that in the 1920s!
Carefully.
It’s when you see better finished items in watches from the 1800s that blows your mind. Before electricity ffs
Shut up and take my money!
Latest arrival on the lust list - from one of the best brands you’ve never heard of - hardened steel cased pilot’s watches, noice!
Lume is less lurid in the flesh. Findable ~£2.5K
Could be worse, they’re € 3,690.00 on Askania’s website
Too rare to findable used, too
What is it with Germans and hardened steel?
And Japanese (Seiko, Citizen). And English (Bremont). People don’t like dented, scratched-up watches. I’m one of them.
Hence also materials like zirconium-ceramics, carbon composites and sapphire being used for cases.
Yes, it’s just a large number of companies doing it seem to be German. I like it.
Well, lots seem to.
I love the ideas of these and often the look, but you can never repair the cases. So a risky long term game.
Me likey
Everything about it is Bauhaus apart from the Art deco logo… Hahaa shame as it’s otherwise very nice indeed.
