Cocks on clocks (Part the Second)

Uh, no, it really doesn’t. And only the fully indoctrinated cult-followers wish it did. It’s just the truth lurking behind all the hype and marketing. It’s fine to Like Nice Things, it’s enjoyable and fun, just don’t expect others to ride-along on a journey of wilful self-deception is all.

Full disclosure - at one point I had 3 Rolex watches, including one of these gold horrors which was inherited and after an appropriate period, it was moved on to more appropriate ownership…

I also had a lovely birth year 1680 which was rarely worn out and about, but when I did always seemed to attract the wrong kind of attention from the wrist-status nerds who wanted to know all about it. When I realised that when wearing the damn thing I looked for all the world like one of them, I sold it too, and in doing so the watch served most usefully as an unintended investment rather than a device to tell the time.

I knew you were knocking on a bit, but wow …!

I have never bought a watch with the sole intention of flipping it but I saw this '97 Chronospace at what I felt was a very attractive price recently and went for it. Full set, original box, receipt, manual, service history paperwork etc.
It’s a learning curve working out how to use the Chrono, dual time, alarm stuff all of which you would probably never use and god knows what all the bezel stuff tells me but the upshot is that I love it which was a bit of a surprise and I have no intention of selling it. It’s a comfortable (for me) 41mm, a very slim 10mm, extremely light and unlike anything else I own in addition has appears to have cured my illogical dislike of Nato straps.

That is kinda nice (for a Breitling).

Yeah it has to be said that there were some horrors around at that time

Breitling are one of the few bigger brands that I like

Can anyone lend me a tenner?*

*thousand. **Ten thousand. Pounds.

**And another £43,000 as well.

Please.

Hahahaha that watch costs more than I got for the Wam sadly.

Quite liking these 40mm Genta inspired watches from Ward. 36mm available for the ladies too.

Prx with different markings.

That is actually quite nice for CW. I’d go for the 36mm White & Gold option as a throwback to my old IWC 3521. I do miss that watch quite a bit but hey, it paid for a few other nice bits and bobs so swings and roundabouts.

This reminds me of the Grand Seiko snowflake.

And different bezel, diffetent indecies, different hands, different body, different movement (although i do like a powermatic 80), diffetent bracelet.

Just the same otherwise.
