I’ve certainly read a lot of positive comments.
I think it’s a lovely looking piece for the money.
Nothing ventured nothing gained.
Eddie’s ex-forces and not exactly famed for his tolerance for morons…
Impulse ebay purchase. I always seem to like black watches when I look at pictures but less so on my wrist so I’m not sure if its a keeper but its quartz so at least I don’t have to worry about the winding and date changing malarky.
Until Friday
This is my 40mm smiffy. I’ve had it god knows how long I’m guessing at least 6 years. No qc or other issues. Probably could do with a service but it keeps good time.
Lovely thing overall, just buy one. If you can.
Black and yellow is a strong combo for me!
Removed.
You sure Gregg? It’s pretty small at just 36mm - smaller than the Seiko you bought from me.
Thanks
Missed that.
No. Too small
So I have now ordered something, or at least I think I have.
Braun AW10 EVO watch, designed by Dietrich Lubs
39mm, quartz, relatively legible, £79.99 from TK Maxx
They reckon retail is £275 - it looks more like it’s £250, but it’s definitely not £79.99.
Fill your boots if you’re interested. They also have the all-black model.

One of few things on TK Maxx worth a toss in the last couple of years. They used to regularly get a decent range of reasonable stuff from the likes of Hamilton and Tissot, and even lesser-knowns like Armand Nicolet and Alpina. Almost nothing but fashion brands lately…
I also like this
pushed to me on Insta.
but TBH a) I know nothing about it, b) I really, really don’t need any more watches and c) I’ve realised that post-Brexit I’ve developed a bit of a weird fear of ordering anything denominated in Euros.
Swedish microbrand - snobs sneer at the micros, but you get a lot of good-looking and well-made watch for less than a new strap for the brag-brands. Obvious downside is resell for ess than half £new unless it’s Ming, AnOrdain, Smiths, &c.
Buying overseas from non-prepaid sources I add 30% to the asking for post, VAT, currency conversion, carrier-fees, &c.
Love the look of that, FWIW.
Decided to buy myself a new watch a few months ago having not worn one for about a decade. Gave myself a budget of £500.
Tried a couple of Seiko diver styles, a Luminox Stainless Navy Seal and a Praesidus Jungle but none felt right on my wrist - lost about £200 when I resold them.
Expensive then but I did learn that 40mm diameter and not too heavy is where I need to be and I bought this Boldr GMT Tarangire basically brand new but half price from a UK eBay seller.
Fits a treat, feels very well made, I really like the looks and it keeps decent time. Also great lume which is very important to me as I use it as a bed side clock.
TBH I’d have preferred it if it didn’t have the GMT hand.
Like that, too. Boldr are really well established now and have a good reputation - I particularly like their ‘Venture’ titanium ‘field watch’ design -
Yeah - a replacement OEM strap for the wife’s Panerai comes in at not much less than one of these watches.
I think it’s triggering Freccione ref 1655 lust in my reptile brain
The one Rolex I could really get a bonor for - just the small matter of needing a mortgage to buy one. Admittedly there are some good tributes out there.
Yep, looks a lot nicer on.
Looks the pods that
Was wondering if Dieter Rams had been involved in these, but apparently Dietrich Lubs.
£250 rrp - so quite the bargain, too
