Cocks on clocks (Part the Second)

HS Johnson have a selection of Elliot Browns at great prices in their sale at the moment. I particularly like the Canford models. Having owned one previously I am tempted to get another at these prices. Nice rugged steel casing which can take some abuse. Quartz obvs but for less than £200 a good deal.

5 yr warranty too :+1:

I used to like that case shape in the '70s but find it hideous now.

Still loving this one:

Habring2 Foudroyante-Felix

“patented dead beat center seconds device and “flashing seconds” (Foudroyante)”.

I could watch the two seconds hands all day.

38.5mm

Strap and watch are both superb Nick - what’s the strap?

Its just an inexpensive unbranded one that I got off ebay some time ago.

decided to wear a watch today - for some reason… i haven’t worn one for about 3 years, other an a smart watch, which i haven’t worn for about a year…

this one was the easiest to retrieve from deep storage.

It was my first “proper watch” - probably had it about 25 years

Nice that Dave, and cheap-as-chips from a credible maker. I like B&M’s recycled plastics versions, too -

This was advertised to me on Insta. Seiko SRPD31.

I like it. What does the panel think?

They were actually showing it on a khaki NATO, which again I rather liked.

Meanwhile, I actually managed to get this bastard thing mostly in focus.

Very arty use of the chronograph complication for photographic purposes.
I am not sure @MJ2 would approve

Does the compass work on the Seiko?
I suppose it would have to be on a binnacle type of system and kept level so I an guessing the anser is probably no?
So what is it’s use? Can you take bearings with it?

:man_shrugging: it’s shiny

Do you know what year your Speedy is?
I am trying to educate myself on the dial differences etc
For instance the S&R in Speedmaster are different to the dial on mine above.

1998 at a guess.

A friend is selling one from 1971 (?)

It’s very nice. I haven’t dared ask the price.

That is very nice. The difference in the yellowing of the tritium baton markers between his and mine (1985-1988) is quite pronounced.

Nup, feel free to carry on. Looks perfectly like a real watch to me.
