I don’t really understand this

but whatever, they have a store opening in London (Oxford Circus?) towards the end of the year.

One of the few Roloxes I like: 1969 Rolex Paul Newman Daytona Watch | Uncrate

The thinnest watch record falls yet again, and to a new player in the field - Konstantin Chaykin (Joker watch &c) - 1.65mm !

Whatever one makes of the aesthetics of these pieces (I heartily dislike all of Chaykin’s work without exception, FWLIW), the engineering ingenuity of producing a functional mechanical timepiece that’s not a whole lot thicker than a credit card is compelling and impressive.

The thing that will take some criticism, is the thing I think is cleverest here - the carrier which makes it possible to not only wind and set the watch (others use keys or desperately awkward and fragile side wheels), but also makes it possible to wear the piece in everyday circumstances - this is otherwise risky with these insanely thin watches which flex pretty easily, harming timekeeping, and potentially damaging the mechanism and cracking the hair-thin sapphire crystals. I guess this will be called ‘cheating’ by absolutists, but seems pretty pragmatic to me, and the watch can certainly be worn and used without it.

A ‘proper’ watch face where you could read the time at a glance would be helpful

Being mental I actually rather like the CK Joker and wish I’d bought one when they were knocking about on C24 for around the 5k mark a while ago.
That however is gash.
I do however think there is a new trend in chunky lume starting.
CW have just started pushing the C60 Trident Lumière

And masters of huge cheap watches Aaragon have something similar.

I rather like the CW but at £2k bar the shouting for one in a bracelet it’s a bit spicy.

I know there’s a lot of Quartz fans on here and I’m happy we’ve all seen the light

I posted this back in March and I now think it’s time to get it repaired.

As mentioned in the post back then, all it needs is a crown wheel and a reset button. I suppose a quick shifty over with a service wouldn’t do any harm either.

I’ve had a quick browse for watch repairers and you get less pop ups on a porn site ffs.
Can anyone recommend a Seiko repairer? I would prefer central belt so I could deliver but happy to post on your recommendations.

Now I just need to convince Mrs X that this would be a great prezzie.

X.

The two who get the most recos over on TZ are:

And don’t stint - get it properly serviced, it’s a lovely watch.

Have you seen the new ceramic lume-block versions? Spendy, but I fucking LOVE them!

Although sharing visual clues with the standard Trident they’re upgraded in every way - with sleeker, lighter titanium cases and better (COSC certified) movements as well as the ceramic lume.

VERY tempted…

Yep. Saw them. Don’t like candy colours. They look too plasticky to these eyes.
Not for me.

Oh, I just received my C7 back from being serviced. They even cleaned the strap.
Looks like new.
