I got momentarily excited when I saw there were two UK dealers for Mido watches. Turned out they were discount stores for discontinued lines only, lots of SWATCH brands in there, so might be worth contacting them if that’s what you want. Hour passion, Bicester and Pompey.
I happened to speak to the UK brand manager and asked her if she knew when they were going to start selling the new range, lots of waffle, short answer was no, she didn’t know. She does know that people in the UK are buying them in from Germany and one or two shops are taking off the EU VAT. We had a private chat, ish…even she cant get her head round why SWATCH are doing this. I suspect there must be some contractual issue, it’s commercial madness otherwise.
I suspect the truth is, until the last couple of years’ very nice divers, Mido have had sweet FA to offer that anyone is interested in in the UK. It’s a very low profile marque here compared to similarly-priced stuff from Swatch’s other brands like Longines, Hamilton, Tissot and even Rado and Certina.

Well, we’ve had watches made of some strange substances - surprising number of makers whittling wooden watches for example - but making a watch out of birdshit has taken even me by surprise…

I guess you mean ‘bezel’ - the crown is the bit you hold when you throw it out of a window / wind it

There’s a new kickstarter watch project at least weekly, usually made in PRC with Miyota or Seiko movement. Nothing wrong with that. Only some actually reach full funding, of those, some never get their shit together and actually send anyone any watches, most do, but not many watches look as good as the renders.
At least this company has a track record (not that I’d heard of 'em), and for the movement etc. the price is keen. Would like to know what anti-scratch treatment the case has undergone, as that’s a major plus point for me.
