Cocks on clocks (Part the Sekonda)

Lovely , nice and correct use of different lume on second and minute hands for a diver, actual or desk. Shows some thought went into it.

Randomly popped up on Instagram.

I love the (comparatively) big crown and (definitely) big seconds.

Always like them, my favourite is the dead beat seconds, power reserve and tourbillon.

We’re these the team that managed to to fit a " mariners" type movement into awatch? Can’t remember the name of the movement but do remember it was a first.

Yeah the detent escapement, can’t remember if it is sprung or pivoted (English or Swiss). I think it was developed by Derek Pratt the same guy who made the Charles Frodsham movement and made George Daniel’s coaxial small enough for wristwatches as Daniel’s only got it working well in pocket watches.

When I was watch ‘shopping’ with Pete last weekend I was wearing my GO PanoReserve.
I don’t think the lady in the Omega boutique (Regent St) recognised it at all but it got quite a bit of attention in Selfridges and Harrods as they said they rarely see them.
I am not surprised, I am interested in trying on a GO SeaQ and it is proving quite difficult to track one down in London, They don’t seem to be that well represented.

I do like GO and that in particular. Better sell it :joy:

That is lovely

Picked up my Portofino from Watch Doctors at the weekend after they removed the polarisation from the sapphire. Very pleased with the results. I also swapped out the bracelet for a sailcloth strap which works nicely imo.

Another beaut

What was the issue Nick?

Polarisation on the sapphire

What does that mean Jim?
How is it caused and how is it fixed?

It looks like a film on the sapphire kind of like if you had washing up liquid on it. It distorts the clarity and in my case had a purple hue to it. Something to do with the AR coating they use.

Thanks Nick  :+1:

For anyone in need of a decent rubber strap with clasp I just bought this in the WatchGecko sale. ÂŁ98 reduced down to ÂŁ50 plus another fiver off using the sign up code.
Comes in dark blue and orange as well.

This new Patek looks rather cool

Not sure they will make that many, but equally I don’t think the waiting list will be a problem if you have the £1,059,630.00 required to buy one
