Cocks on clocks (Part the Sekonda)

Got to do something to sell stuff these days.
You Tubers are becoming a bigger force, Teddy Baldassarre did a colab with Brew and Nico Leonard did one with Maen.
I expect more of the smaller brands will do the same.

No real difference from Omega doing yet another 007 limited edition.

You’re 100% right. I’m maybe just not sufficiently invested in any of those entities to want to buy the resulting watches.

Have never seen a CW watch I’ve liked and that pattern continues.

I really like the watch, and if £2K was the trivial sum that it is for some, I’d probably buy one - I think it’s the best diver they’ve done yet :ok_hand:

I like the Christopher Ward case since it doesn’t restrict my clothes as much as most in winter.
OTOH I am completely at a loss as to why “divers” are so popular maybe people like to appear more sporty than they are (not much chance for me) and whilst I like a robust watch I like the smallest bezel possible. I got a Christopher Ward trident and whilst it does have a bigger bezel than I prefer it isn’t typical diver watch, doesn’t have a dig-in deployant buckle and it is probably the most comfortable watch I own - certainly one of, anyway. The original size Reverso probably beats it.

For me, the bezel gives me a sacrificial edge before the glass takes a hit. I’m in no way sporty but I am a clumsy twat.

I like the utilitarian functions and looks of divers, chiefly the legibility of the hands and dial, and the ability to time certain activities like dogwalks. The reliable waterproofness has often proved welcome. I, too, am no Bear Grylls.

I dislike the egregiously fat cases of most of them - literally no-one needs depth ratings above 100m (which generally translates in the real world as “can be worn in the shower”). Display backs are a bad joke in such a watch, and, as-ever, the wrist-clock sizes are proving slow to die.

My view too. I’ve said this before, but if I’m in 100 metres of water then the fact my watch has stopped is VERY low down on my list of problems.

On that basis you would never need a car with a top speed of over 70mph

Didn’t look very carefully and got a bit excited

but then I clicked on “more”

Patek 96 on a Gay Frères bracelet. 1939. Not the absurd price that I assumed. For what it is.

Quite small I imagine?
32 - 34mm?

31mm. You’ve got to be fully prepared to go old school.

You know that even if you think you are buying that for yourself you are really buying it for Mrs G?

I had all sorts of smart ass retorts ready but frankly you’re probably right.

Or at 35mm and a third the price, from a time when they didn’t consistently produce goppers, a nice UN chrono. Valjoux 22 base.

Love the drilled lugs.

I’d style 35mm out.

Any interest @Kevin?

Personally I like this one at about the same price point.

Thanks for heads up.
The SeaQ Panorama is too big for me at 43mm. I have been looking at the 39.5mm SeaQ

The Moser is cool but I already have a blue face three hand watch.
I am also a bit limited in that I can’t wear leather straps.
If I add to my collection at all it will be a diver.

Zenith Defy Revival Zut alors! Gott im himmel!
