Cocks on clocks (Part the Sekonda)

Having a browse on subdial and saw this. I seem to remember someone was after a 39mm version.

Probably totally made it up in my head though.

Seen that thanks,
I am monitoring all the usual sites wating for the dial/bezel/bracelet/strap/price combo that I really really want!

Saw this today

I remember them coming out. Nice enough, described as “mint” but something has been grinding up against it

however it reminded me of what I see occasionally and actually want

You want to be careful I quite like the look of that Ingeneiur (or however you spell it) weld some lugs on it and it’d be perfect for my ham hock wrists.

Seriously though wonderful looking pocket watch. Which probably means your tase is a bit fucked.

Mint, my arse !

Both nice watches tho’, innit.

Finally had enough of smart watches so went through a draw to see what watches I had left.

A bulova accutron in need of a battery, a marathon asymmetric plastic case with a precista dial and hands fitted :person_shrugging:

Then this I had completely forgotten about:

Seems to be running well at just 2s a day fast

Still sniffing around the ref 5215 I found a small dealer in Munich (of course) who appears to be me, but with money.

He has a full set in minty condition

Sadly rather spendy. Given the oddball collision between a modern sports watch aesthetic and a 19th century fob watch they only ever sold 135 across a five year period.

He also has the full autistic set of steel, rose gold and platinum Jubilee Portugiesers

however that really is £yikes

If the Ingenieur was in the UK I would still probably cough up despite the price, but with VAT, duty, insurance and risk it’s probably a pass.

Gold one looks very handsome

From memory there were 1000, 100 and 25 respectively in the steel, RG and Pt.

There was also a later limited edition “Pisa”, I think for a local jeweller. I’ve been mildly obsessed with these things since the late 90s.

I have a pocket watch. 44mm
Nothing special I found it amongst my Dad’s stuff.
I don’t think it is very old and he never mentioned it so I have no idea where it came from etc.
It is in a little bag in a drawer, I have no idea what to do with it.

Edit. Found a couple that look identical on ebay.
Gold plated, sell for about £150

Nice :ok_hand: Damasko remain by far my most-worn watches, tho’ annoyingly both my chronos need servicing and I really don’t fancy sending them to Germany…

I would put it on a simple leather thong / bootlace (I’ve never been keen on metal chain grinding on metal watch) and tuck it in the pocket of my waistcoat :+1:

Sadly I don’t know anyone I would recommend these days.
Unrelated, I remember ordering some parts from them like a case tube and seals etc and they were very happy to deal direct with me without stocking the watches.

Damasko and Sinn are probably still my favourite for daily wear at a sensible price.

There’s a guy over on PFM, Bazza, who’s done a couple of jobs for me with no problems. He graduated from his Horology degree last year with a first, and he’s a massive Sinn fanboi. He has a YouTube channel doing reviews too.

Probably really good too, I just won’t recommend anyone who I haven’t actually seen their work, just because of my past etc.

He’s decent, I trusted him to repair my mates grandad’s railway pocket watch and he had to do some proper rebuilding work on it.

Actually I’ve just remembered I promised to send him a TAG bracelet tool that I somehow acquired.

Oh yeah but for me to let someone else service one of my watches or someone I knows watch, I want to physically see their oiling capabilities (how accurate it is, end cap amounts, which oil is used where etc), how clean their workshop is, what cleaning machine and how often they swap cleaning fluid. That sort of stuff

Unless it’s manufacturer service from one of the ones I know do top notch work.
