Decided to go balls out and blew £2.35 on an RCA to 3.5mm female adaptor plugged into a spare Sonos Port.
In fairness, it sounds absolutely gash - definitely needs a headphone amp.
Yep, quick A/B of the same track from my phone into an EarMen Sparrow thumb DAC - oh hello, there is actually some bass.
It wouldn’t be a one-box option, but they’re quite small boxes - the Project Box Designs options might fit quite well for what you want.
