This is why I tend to stick to games that don’t require much focus on reaction timings or outright co-ordination.
On that note, Civ 7 is playable from Thursday

A couple of gaming related things recently that made me feel good for my age.
I managed to complete Outer Wilds which is now up there with Disco Elysium (and the FromSoftware sekirrosoulsbornerings) as one of my favourite games. When I tried it before I couldn’t even identify the puzzles let alone solve them.
I don’t think Dominik Diamond needs another middle aged man in the comments telling him he could do it if he stuck with it though.
Also, went back to Returnal and beat the first boss in one evening after spending hours bouncing off it a year or so ago.
Pretty sure my brain definitely can’t cope with strategy games though.
I was selected for the Elden Ring Nightreign network test so will get to play that before release which is pretty cool
I suspect I’m not the target audience however since most of the sessions are 11pm-2am or 3am-6am
Beat the second boss in Returnal last night. Quite chuffed, first try and seems to be regarded as quite tough (it was). I then died shortly into the next level by repeatedly falling off the same ledge in quick succession.
Sniper Elite V2 Remastered is currently £4.49.
Where is good to buy games from? Was looking to get Hitman III (Xbox Series X version) and it seems like it’s about £50 - I’d have thought it’d be cheaper seeing as it’s a few years old already. I haven’t bought games in many years so a bit out of where people currently go.
Have you heard of ebay?
Try CDKeys.com
In a sign of just how long it’s been, I didn’t realise you could buy s/h games - thought they were locked or something (or just dodge).
Thanks v much, will have a gander.
In another sign of how long it’s been, I now find it quite overwhelming how many options there are for games - taking Hitman 3 for example, there are like ten zillion versions - Gold Edition / Deluxe Edition / Access Pass - just for starters. Why is it so hard to just find the base game?!
A lot of games do get locked to accounts these days once first activated, so it would definitely be worth checking for specific platforms / titles. With CDKeys that license key generally goes into Steam, and then it’s forever locked to my Steam account. A lot of physical media these days doesn’t even contain the full game, it’s just used to trigger a download - not surprising when you consider the number of titles that are now larger than even the largest capacity of Bluray.
Thanks, good to know I’m not that out of touch.
This turned out to be a bit clunky. I think it’s a PS3 or earlier game so the controls are a bit unfamiliar.
However this
turns out to be Sniper Elite 4 with less sneaking and more zombies. It’s even got the same voice actor for the main character.
Currently £3.99 on the PlayStation store.
a lot less
Did you get any of the additional missions for SE 4 Guy - they’re well worth the extra sheckles.
Thanks. I bought the “kitchen sink” version
I must admit it’s one of my favourite games. Such great fun hunting Nazis - have you managed to kill Hitler with your knife yet
I found that one incredibly frustrating. I haven’t even managed to catch up with him.
I almost managed it but got shot in the back by a sneaky bastard guard
And digging through the huge amount of DLC, season pass 1 is free.
2 and 3 are very much not free.
Must hook my ps3 up and complete everybody’s golf that I started about 5 years ago
