First cup and I really like it. This is the darkest roast they’ve sent so far on this subscription, so I wasn’t sure what to expect as I’ve enjoyed the others at one and two beans on their indicator level. First pour over, it’s definitely not as fruity and I see what they mean by marzipan.
Decided to bail on the Timemore grinder after a pretty lukewarm Lance Hendrick review. I might try and get the Zerno Z1 which is currently on limited release.
Yea, agreed. I realise ive most likely not hit the V60 sweet spot but so far its not making me feel its worth persuing.
The Aeropress makes a much stronger and smoother brew which is obviously where my preference lays.
Not sure what that means, but for comparison when using the Niche (which I know you had) they mark espresso as 20 on their dial, for V60 I use one full rotation coarser round to about 26.
So considerably coarser.
But I agree a V60 is not a ‘strong’ brew and very different from the Aeropress.
My Aeropress languishes in the back of the cupboard and is never used.
Started courser and dialled back till i got the most favourable brew.
For reference, my standard beans were ground at 18 on the Niche and at 1.2 on the P64.
I have the Aeropress Go as i got it for camping trips, ill probably go for the standard Aeropress now as its a bigger capacity.
This is the second West Java coffee from the same lot I have had now from Horsham, the first one was a natural which was very bright and zingy. This lactic fermentation is really nice and completely different, the flavour really lasts in the mouth.
