Corner shop had the tubs in, they were a quick way to a cardiac ward stay but worth it.

Not been able to eat, much less even smell a caramac for over 40 years (unfortunate incident on Winchester station involving involuntary regurgitation of scrumped apples and pears) :nauseated_face:

When I was a small child Caramac still included whale oil as a texture enhancer, since replaced by palm oil. I’m ashamed to say the original was a lot nicer than later versions…

At a wild guess you’re at least 4 years younger than me, so you may have missed it - would have been about 1970 they binned the cetacean fat…

55 in two weeks, but who’s counting. Depends how long the bars had been in my Nan’s cupboard I suppose - born in 1900, she’d seen two world wars, so was very much of the generation who wouldn’t let anything go to waste.
