Would have gone if I knew Animal was going to be there

I really liked the J.Sikora Aspire. Looked suitably solid.

Any of it better than the Snell As at Lopwell? :slightly_smiling_face:

A lot of it was very disappointing to be honest.
The vast majority of the rooms were not great.
There were a few good sounding rooms but more were poor than good to my ears

Agreed. A lot of boom and tizz.
Sorry I missed you and Kate - bumped into a lot of the usual suspects.

I shall have to try and be there next year, see if I can do any better!

Anyone go to the Quad room?
They were demoing the new 2912X.

Yes, got a listen to those. Sounded pretty similar to what I recall of the previous generation - also there was a lot of background noise in that room.

For me, yes (albeit probably not anything at a comparable price).

The Viva + Wilson Benesch Discovery combo I’ve heard before, and it is fantastic imho.

Cambridge Audo + Dynaudio Contour Legacy was also a lot of fun too.

Some of the foo made that £7k phono cable look like child’s play too.

Lopwell next year will be a festival of foo.

On that note, I meant to ask what this box bottom right was supposed to be doing, and then didn’t get the chance:

Seemed to be an entirely clear, perspex box, with some sort of electrical component sat inside it.

Seems it’s an Audio Magic Oracle power conditioner. My browser warned me that Audio Magic’s site https://www.audio-magic.com/pulsed-electron-alignment.html was insecure, but in the interest of pushing back the frontier of knowledge I went ahead anyway. I can report back that

When only the best will do, you need the Oracle. This power conditioner is available in a clear 1/2" acrylic cabinet and helps power the finest audio systems in the world with four Type 2 Pulse Gen Technology units—a high-precision Pulse Gen Module, two Mega Liquid Air Modules, and Ground Disruptor Technology—all paired with a separate amplifier and digital, low level circuits. The unit features 10 gauge silver conductors and cryo and MST treated premium capacitors, along with six Oxaide duplexes and two 20 amp mini breakers. The 18" wide by 17" deep and 8.5" tall unit is available in 120v or 240v and requires two power cords, which are not included.

That’s some glorious prose.
