Finally they take the new ball.

This could get interesting.

The new ball is swinging, good news for England.

Think they’ll declare at the next wicket

The nighthawk might dispute that :grinning:

Very acceptable morning.

The ultra defensive fields and a soft, old ball kept the run rate almost manageable for Australia but I think England will be happy enough with this lead and would expect the declaration to come during the lunch break, probably at 13:29:59

Wouldn’t they just go out & spend 10-15 minutes hitting it as hard & far as they can & try to add another 20 or so?

They might but I just think that saving that 10 minutes changeover delay and maybe 15 minutes of batting takes more time out of the game, especially when bowling conditions look decent.

Who knows though, second guessing Stokes’ decisions isn’t easy

A few more Broad singles might help, he’s just run straight up the middle of it

Guessing the Aussies will now be playing for the draw, hoping the weather helps them out

I hope so, it might benefit England, they could set ultra attacking fields.

I don’t see any possibility of the Aussies winning but playing negatively can get you in to just as much trouble as attacking.

Shot!

Wankers on the BBC website complaining about the lack of a declaration are the same wankers that derided Stokes for declaring too early. Fucking tossers.

Then there’s this cunt

Exists solely to stir the shit. Just fuck off home.
