Bang- bang!

Lovely ball

Wickets falling now, I imagine the Indian spinners can’t wait to get the ball in their hands :grimacing:

Much as I would love to see it, I’ll be surprised if he ever plays Test cricket again

Good read, especially Lara naming the rooms of his house!

Genius

I saw him bat that season, in the B&H final at Lord’s. Warks v Worcs, god knows how I had a tick’… Anyway, it was over 2 days because of the weather, I think, and Lara made a very low score. Very disappointing!

Buuuuut, he played one cover drive at the pavilion end which is etched on the inside of my eyelids. The end of his bat going through somewhere beyond 360° at blinding speed, and the ball propelled like a bullet to the boundary. No brutality, just perfect hand/eye coordination, footwork and balance. I can remember the hubbub after the shot, a load of criket nuts, blown away.

Some of my earliest memories are of listening to the cricket commentary with him opening the batting with, I think Geoff Pullar.
