That final period was classic. What a shame for England that Woakes didn’t hang on to the C&B.
Washington Sundar though… what a brilliant spell. On when England had to be aggressive against him, and able to skid the ball through them. They were either playing for turn that wasn’t there, or lured into the big shot with deceptive flight. Great to watch, despite myself!
I’m up early to fish a horribly difficult job I have been making for another tailor ( we were mates before he gave me this thing!). Anyway, whatever happens today, and I think India should win from here, this has been a killer game of cricket. The pitch, which has been the subject of much discussion, has produced a pulsating game. It’s had everything! If you get it, and I’m pretty much on my own in our house, there is nothing like test cricket is there? This game has been like some sort of brutal, slow- burn duel in the sun (somewhat akin to my tussle with this bloody jacket I’ve been making!), that I haven’t been able to take my eye off since ball one. In the last day or so it has become positively gladiatorial. I hope there are a few more twists and turns.
It’s definitely a fascinatingly poised game at this point. At the end of the England innings yesterday, I thought that India had this thing absolutely sewn up, but fair play to the bowlers yesterday, they did some sterling work.
Still got to get it done, but that’s a great session for England. They have been intense and haven’t given India a sniff. I didn’t think they’d take 4 this morning.
