Cricket, lovely cricket (Part 2)

What a way to lose your wicket!

What a match!!

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer person.

Been travelling for much of the day so TMS on the radio. Started to get a little nervy towards the end, pleased for Bashir that he got his reward.

Great series to date, I’m pretty sure there will be no lack of drama in the final two tests.

Is now out for the next test. As much as there is Bethell hype (and given he is from my club I can go with it) I still hope they pick a specialist spinner.

Down to the wire, great test match and that spin roll for the last wicket summed up how hard both teams fought

Immense game of cricket. Two contrasting but closely matched teams. I never thought that England would be able to defend that total. What a bowling performance. Equally, I never thought that India would fight like that after lunch, once they went 8 down. Jadeja was fantastic, Bumrah and Siraj too. I was sweating at the end!

Can’t wait for the next one. Although, I’ll be in a field in Cornwall, which is always fun trying to find reception so I can listen. Pretty sure India will be back…

Someone commented that if this had been a limited over match the Zing bails would probably have stayed on!

Gwithian again or somewhere else?

I missed the opportunity to visit Prussia Cove last week despite being nearby at Praa sands. Still haven’t been. Completely forgot. Did get back to Kynance the day before though so not all bad.

Gwithian, yes! Really looking forward to it. One day we’ll go back to Prussia Cove. We had some really special holidays there. I might try fishing for some mullet, and quite fancy Mousehole Harbour. Got to see if I can jam some tackle in the van somewhere

That did not end well for the Windies!

Comedy moment when Siraj (and everyone else) just stood and watched the ball creep up to the stumps and knock it off. Why didn’t he kick it away?!

I wonder who will come in for Bashir. Whoever it is, will be auditioning for the Ashes tour. Would they bother going back to Leach? I seem to remember him being smashed around in Australia, and England know what he’s about, anyway. Rehan Ahmed? Would stiffen the batting, but could he hold an end for hours, while the seamers go short? Liam Dawson? Would also stiffen the batting… anyone else?

Well that answers that, then!

They were lucky to get the 27th run off a misfield, avoided equalling the all time record of 26 all out.

Dawson deserves a chance, could be the holding spinner needed for the Ashes.

Yes… not everyone gets it. I was talking to a mate last night, asking him if he caught the game. He looked at me as if I was a bit sad and said: ā€œI’m not sure that cricket could ever be described as exciting.ā€
