Duckett is constantly infuriating, often not moderating his play style to the match circumstances, but often brilliant. Mostly the latter today!
I don’t think he can. Unless he’s getting bat on ball he looks like a club player. Just keep doing what he’s doing for me, yes there’ll be failures but also spectacular results - like today.
He was batting beautifully in the first innings at The Oval when he was run out.

I get thst Stokes’ nightclub adventures and the way it was dealt wth may have contributed but I find his annoucement, and Williamson’s announcement half way through a series difficult to understand.

I’ve been watching Test cricket for ~60 years and some of the most memorable moments I’ve had the privilege to witness have been created, often singlehandedly, by Ben Stokes. There have been so many but watching his innings to win “that” Headingley Test, ball by ball, will never leave me.
He will undoubtedly share his reasons for the decision (and the timing) in due course but “if” it is a result of his treatment for having a few celebratory beers after winning the Lords Test then the England management should hang their heads in shame.
