Danny Baker’s Auction

Any bidding ?

That is one hell of a collection and probably a lot less than it could have been.
I remember Baker being interviewed and he said that when he worked for NME they had had boxes of promo - not for sale copies delivered for review.
They took most of them straight round the various record shops in Soho and flogged them,

Should still fetch a tidy sum, some of those estimates are very low

I wonder what value his particular ownership adds to their value? The condition in a fair few cases is iffy from a collectors perspective. 30% on top can be a buzz kill too - The recent BBC archive auctions Omega have done had some heavy rarities the thing was they all had library indexing / running sheets on them. Tricky because this knackered condition but the provenance of the bbc archive for some holds some weight… overall things went cheep and I kind of feel a large portion of Danny bakers stuff may go the same way - that said he’s waved his chubby pr wand all over this one in record collector mag / blogs etc so maybe.

Stuff like original posters seem to go for mad prices, that Clash one for instance …
But yeah, the buyers premium is pretty stiff.

Sure, posters have a pretty wide market. The comedy records and rat pack stuff - less so
