Funnily enough I started mine today. 1850 Calories will lose me 0.5kg/week.
Nothing extreme, but I need to lose about 6kg off my gut.

I know itās going to be torture given your buns thread but cutting out bread will help a lot.
I need to lose 3 stone by June and I havenāt even started yet
2 pounds a week is a good steady rate. Id always say donāt try to be heroic and slash too many calories too soon - it just wonāt be sustainable and youāll give up/ whack it all back on again.
Iād suggest thinking less about a ādietā and more about the way you want to eat for the rest of your life.
Dunno your current weights/ diets, and levels of daily activity, but 1700 and 1850 per day look a bit low?
Tomorrows breakfast will be bacon, egg, sausages, black pudding, mushrooms and fried bread.
In the interests of supporting the diet fad, Iāll grill the bacon and sausages. Ok?
What time should I get there?
Oh, I get up around 9:30 so 10am onwards will be fine
1850 is fine for me. Itās probably a 300-400 Calorie deficit. I walk the dog for around 90 minutes a day, and thatās about it.
Iām on soups and stir fry at the momentā¦seems to work well to minimise hunger. Porridge with banana and an egg for breakfast, soup and a yoghurt (no bread, but big portion of soup) for lunch and stir fry for dinner. Bit of protein, lots of veg and rice. Drinking lots of green tea. I find full fat dairy keeps me much fuller for not many more calories. Soup always good amount of protein and fat.
Maybe low, but the NHS diet site suggest less than 1900 calories a day
Today I have only been shopping = no exercise
The NHS diet site seems full of decent advice.
I would like to lose 1kg a week.
The trick is to work out a realistic maintenance diet for once youāve reached your target weight. Otherwise it usually takes exactly the same amount of time to put it all back on again as it did to lose it.
Pics or it didnāt happen
deal!
I have no problems sticking to a diet on my own. When I was working away I was easily able to
keep my cupboards free of temptation - At home my wife fills the cupboards with temptation bakes cakes all the time.
I need to learn to resist it. Thatās the long term maintenance issue I need to address.
Well good luck chaps, itās not easy losing weight and even harder to keep it off.
Iām on a moderate level diet prior to having my surgery; I also have the challenge of needing to fit into a suit for my sisterās wedding, which is prior to the surgery. Need to lose a good 2-3 inches round my stomach for the jacket to fit.
You asked for it (Sorry, all out of black pudding)
I did make two plates, but Penance didnāt show up, so the dogs got a rare treat!

Breakfast was two weetabix and 100ml of skimmed milk - No sugar for me.
Lunch one bowl of soup and a little bread - I may treat myself to a biscuit with a cuppa.
Iād recommend trying whole milk instead of skimmed. You might find, like I did, that itās a lot more filling for an insignificant amount of extra calories. Also, depends on the soup but often you can have quite a bit more soup for fewer calories than in a single slice of bread (especially if with butter) but itās a lot more filling. Probably only true for non-creamy soups, but certainly for home made e.g. lentil or similar.
Soup without bread? How can you have a day without a night?
So far I havenāt been feeling too many hunger pangs
Nam Please can you advise on serving sizes? - I am finding it all pretty confusing ?
Typical example in this soup (linked below) Claire used the recipe and ended up with 3.3kg of soup - It says 108 calories per serving says the recipe is for six but fails to say what size the serving is - One sixth of the batch is 550g a massive portion? Our bowls hold 277g - Is that about normal for a single serving?
Leek and potato soup is such a classic soup; although it's usually eaten hot, it's also surprisingly delicious eaten cold on a summer's day.
Tonight is spanish pork (pork 400g stew with olives and veg) plus rice - Again what is a portion size
