Nice, I like those. Was thinking of getting a pair for dips and lying pull ups as they are great for the big upper body compounds.

So when thinking of the 8 x 8 be Vince Gironda I thought it might be better to ease myself into it and was looking at more of his stuff. I came across a student of his and I have bought a course from him. There are exercises from Vince or variations that he recommended and I’m having to learn these with varying degrees of ease.

Anyway I’m enjoying it and will see how it goes.

Looking at his steak and eggs diet got me thinking whether I could do a keto diet and the past two days I tweaked my meals and got the carbs right down but not to the levels I’ve read for keto. I’ve read 30g and I was at 80g per day.

I still used the food I had to hand but with a bit of planning I believe I could quite easily do it and might try this from next week or the week after. I’ll see.

Doing arms tomorrow and I’m looking forward to see if I’ve improved again. I’m currently doing triceps dips with these and could only manage four difficult reps. Last time out four was easy and I managed seven although number seven was quite difficult and slow. Second set after 20-30 seconds rest was four reps.

Wary of expecting too much and ending up disappointed though.

If you’ve been able to do a good number of reps in the past it doesn’t take long to get back to where you were, ime.
That said I haven’t done any dips in months, the movement agrovates a shoulder issue so I don’t bother anymore. A shame as I used to like them to finish a push day.

I don’t think I’ve ever done them to be honest. I did those bench dips but that takes a lot of the stress off.

But yeah, I have lost a stone of weight and I’ll be getting some strength back and I’m also still lighter than I was, which should be making it easier.

Have to say the neck press is feeling great for hitting chest without hurting my delts. I’ve just finished chest and back tonight.

With those kind of rest times don’t go to failure. 3 sets of 5 is better than 7/4/2

I’m taking short rest between all sets. With these I was honestly hoping for two sets of four again but with better form as they were a struggle. When they felt so easy I kept going on the first set. Number four on set two was difficult. Just the two sets on these currently and no going to failure really, though depends on how you define it as my form was breaking down on the last rep.

I’m not thinking of failure or pushing anything right now. Everything is light too. I’m just focusing on the muscle. I’ll see how it goes. This is the third week.

Form breakdown = don’t count the rep in my book. Pretty sure it was the same in Girondas book too.

Fuck him then.

It’s ok. I’m just happy that I’m getting small improvements and I can feel my recovery is good between sessions.

It’s well known that Gironda trained a lot of good athletes and some bodybuilding champs too. It’s also well known that few of them enjoyed it!

He’d fit in well here.

Just forced myself to do the last session of the week, which was legs. Didn’t get that good session when you’re not expecting it though. Wasn’t that easy.

Been doing front squats (as prescribed) with a fairly light weight and it was feeling way lighter, so I upped the weight this session. After two sets I had to take it back down for the final two working sets. I had set the bar one hole lower after the previous session and didn’t realise at first, do that didn’t help. Just didn’t like the feeling of where I had the bar today but I did manage to keep my back straight.

Good news is that the lock for the safety pin that I thought was snapped isn’t and I got it working. So this month my squats have been ass to grass too.

Anyway, a nice day off tomorrow and come back fresh next week.

Tonight was these, though I only did three reps for each phase. I used an empty Olympic bar:

I just managed to finish my sets. I think I can improve on form but I’m liking them.

Never felt DOMS in my quads like this. The area that is sore is new and they feel very tight today. I’m usually healed by today.
