“There’s something that’s been bothering me…”
£100 postage???
Insurance for that value is expensive.
Troo, I didn’t notice the price
Lovely arm. Could quite fancy one myself.
Chuck another 20% on top for VAT as it’s in tobleronia but still not a bad price.
Sound Heights Japan has a brand new one for 400000 yen.
I think the older ones are better as they were hand made by Bobby Ikeda but now he’s passed away they are factory made.
(I may have just made up his first name)
One went on Ebay last year for £2500, believe it was Gordon Welford ? who was selling it but it vanished in a flash.
I had the loan of a 407 for a while. Despite the odd geometry it’s the nicest sounding pivoted arm I’ve listened to.
Probably cheaper to do a day trip to Zurich via Easy Jet and see if he’ll meet you at a convivial watering hole. As long as he pays for the beer.
Like this.
Looks nice.
Got one of these (used to have 2), and they are excellent for the money. 15w class A, this is the MK2 which doesn’t get too hot as it has propper heat sinks, unlike the MK1 which is poorly designed. I use mine mainly as a power amp (turn the volume right up), sees off some pretty exotic gear.
This one has the desireable MM/MC stage.
Had one of these and they are a bit meh. This is actually a MK2 not a MK1 the idiot seller is wrong.
My MK1 (see below) was OK so long as you warmed it up for 3 hours before listening. A Krell KSA50 or Albarry 408 easily saw it off in terms of sound.
I preferred the A270 as it had a more balanced less romatic sound. The original Dr. Thomas brick was actually quite a bit nicer than the A370 and didn’t eat electricity as quickly.
I sold my A370 to a guy who was going to use it as a guitar amp. The £1900 is OTT pricing.
Me too, been thinking of shapes if I get my hands on that TTS
Goldring 1042 clone.
