I’ve got a 773 here in a drawer. Stopped working years ago and I’ve no idea why.
I used to think it was made for them by Supex but actually it might have been Dynavector…
I thought it was made by kiseki
I’d not heard that. I think Kiseki was actually a small Dutch venture getting cartridges made in Japan to be sold with the same kind of mystique that was being associated with Koetsus. I’d be surprised if Mission had gone to them for a cartridge.
Read it a few years ago but can’t remember where.
I thought it was Supex SD series with a different diamond profile and a cheaper body. I think the Kiseki thing came from somebody asking a question, very much doubt they had anything to do with it.
As I understand it the Dutch outfit were a distributor for Kiseki who built a close relationship. They had a fair bit of NOS stock/parts for a long time after Kiseki folded, I think the original designer passed away(?). They subsequently started putting carts back together and eventually got around to having the designs built again with some modifications. You could get NOS and new versions of the various carts if you look hard enough. I liked the sound of the Purpleheart however I saw a few recent reports of suspension failures and poor support from Kiseki. How big a problem that is I don’t know but I decided to avoid.
This is my understanding too. The designer/cartridge builder was a one man band (named Fukada San or Fukadu San, depending who you believe) and the rumour is that he was an ex Supex employee, the ‘Fukada’ name being made up to protect his identity.
The Dutch distributor, Herman van den Dungen (PrimaLuna/Mystere) commissioned him to design and build the original cartridges when he got pissed off with supply and quality issues from Koetsu.
OR
That’s all bollocks and he made the story up to hide the fact that someone else was making them or to add some kind of artisanal mystique to the product, or perhaps both.
About 390 quids worth plus postage. WTActual?
You are Dave, I claim my £5.
I’ve seen something I want on audiomarkt. I can’t seem to register. I’ve emailed the guy and he’s responded.
Any idea why I can’t register? Seems an old fashioned website.
I like mine - have had it four years now and it runs a Koetsu in the Brinkmann arm, which is a derivative of the Breuer. There is a tube power supply which is nice if you like that sort of thing.
Some blurb here on The Arm, Kiseki etc

The Arm aka Sumiko MDC-800 is a sort of Breuer-alike supposedly created because of supply problems with the original… or somat
Need some bass reinforcement ?
Always room for more. Love my DD15, I may buy another…
