They’re an interesting speaker if they are Shackmans. Just need to be plugged into the mains iirc. They have something of a cult following in Germany I think. I did have a pair for a while. They’re a 2 way with an 8" bass & electrostatic panel above. Bit of an impedance dip at the bottom end of the panel’s range so a reasonably stiff amplifier is a good idea.

Thanks, If they were known to be working or local I might say yes. Because it’s a lot of hassle for everyone for a tweeter that may not work. I was giving a heads up for other tinkerers more than for me.
There is also a pair of active Sony electrostatics for sale.These have a electrostatic unit in and MFB -Ugly though £250 posted seems quite good value.

I wouldn’t mind them myself, anyone near by going to Settle?
I’m not near by but on Friday I’ll be driving roughly north east before heading across to Settle. Google maps says diverting via Milton Keynes would add 20 miles and 30 minutes to my journey. The bad news is that I will be passing there pretty early in the morning - likely around 07:00. So if the seller could have them in his doorway for that time then I could load them in the car and bring them up. I won’t really have time to hang about though as I’ll have a long way to drive and a deadline to meet later in the morning.

I bought them because I need one for spares for the one I already have, and a mate at work needs some spares for his.
Therefore I can use decks 1 and 2 to provide the necessary spares for these, and then use decks 3 and 4 to provide spares for the spares I’ve taken from 1 and 2.
I’ll probably then buy two more to provide spares for the spares for the spares that I’ve removed from 3 and 4.
It’s all perfectly logical if you think about it.
