I do the same rob, 3 records and10 mins in the spare room whilst I listen to a record does the trick
The drying aspect on the higher end ultrasonic cleaners irritates my OCD as much as air drying on cheaper models.
If you bathe something in itās own dirt then let a fan or air or whatever dry it you are in effect drying detritus back on the playing surfaces.
e.g:
Take a drop of water from the tank and drop it on a mirror overnight - the next day when dry if you can see a residue this is what has been drying back onto the record.
(This is still preferable to not cleaning a record at all)
Vacuuming off the liquid after a distilled water cycle is one of the better ways to deal with this issue.
Wet vac systems have their own draw backs - You clean one side of the record then turn it over and place it down on a mat which has just been in contact with an uncleaned surface.
Ultrasonic cleaning then a water cycle on a wet vac might be one way to go but Money / space / time / faff.
The more expensive models have a filtration system to avoid the dirty water scenario and have variable frequency for the ultrasonic bath which apparently is useful
They all have their drawbacks. Iām still happy with my OK 2.
I still think blowing the water off is better than sucking and have in mind a centripetal force kind of solution for drying that could sit next to my vortex
The challenge is how to secure the lp without damage to the label or spindle hole, simple idea of a box with a power drill in it and a switch to set it spinning, thinking a hockey puck platter and a Mitchell clamp I have going spare.
After 8 mins on the Velvet Vortex I give the three records on the spindle a rinse in a biggish bowl of distilled water. I donāt clean more than 14 records at a time (2 Knosti racks) so the water doesnāt get too mucky. I have the impression that most of the gunk stays in the machine solution, which gets filtered after each cleaning session.
I think that vacuum after ultrasonic is the ideal. I had that set up for a while until it was one my mates turn to have our shared vacuum rcm and it was truly brilliant. My OCD did kick in a bit so I vacuumed the vortex juice off, then sprayed with distilled and vacuumed that. My RCMs platter is only the size of the label so recontamination isnāt an issue.
Anyone here buy this? Looked dodgy to me but I couldnāt find the photos being pinched from elsewhere and it sold in less than 4 hours
Italy (sharp intake of breath).
Yeah, Italy, user with 16 feedback with no sales and a price around 1/3 of what it should be.
Alarm bells were gently chiming.
Funny, the original gofunding link was sent to me by my boss who has just bought one of these. He borrowed my Velvet Vortex for a few months and was convinced he needed a cleaner.
Bit old now really?
āWhy pay a fortune for Audionote Speakers when you can purchase these fantastic high quality hardwood speaker cabinetsā⦠£495 lolcano
Have those drivers (whatās left of them) been modded by having some shite painted on them? (Like the late and unlamented Dicky Dunn used to recommend?)
A lot of the Snell drivers were doped, the undoped paper drivers sound much better.
Unlike Pyro Dunn Peter Snell knew what he was doing though.
Was one of these for sale at around £800 if I remember correctly and I was tempted because of the concrete knob:
Iām not sure about that. The sensitivity increased a little but the coneās chacteristics became more evident as well. The Snell J/II and E/II were much less coloured than the AN replacements which are quite a different speaker really.
The original Snell K did use undoped cones and although Snell adjusted the crossover when they went to a heavier, less sensitive doped cone I always did think the earlier version was a little better.
Sadly itās probably impossible to hear any of that generation of Snellās sounding as intended as all will have had their bass mid drivers repaired or replaced and are unlikely to be performing as originally specced.
Nice Kuzma XL dual arm on hififorsale.

Not sure link works?
Couldnāt see that as the linky was fecked. This SME is wildly overpriced though:
I got mine, with the later PS, a black SME V and a DVXX2 II for more than a grand less. That silver V looks odd to me on the 20/2. It disrupts the overall oil-rig vibe of the whole thing.
EDIT: Was it this Kuzma you were linking to Paul?
2nd EDIT: Feck that link is awkward to deal with
Agreed
