Despite how big they look from the front they’re only about 20cm deep and bottom ported so can be placed almost flush with a wall.

How do they sound at relatively close range, like 7- 8 feet?
I’m actually thinking of completely rearranging my room so they fire down the length rather than across.
Or maybe even swapping into the back room cos Claire has decided she prefers “my” room to watch telly in. Hmm.

I’ve always listened to them near field due to room constraints so I can’t really advise on a more open set up.

Exactly, you’re getting the stress anyway without even having them! Might as well have them if you’re getting that shit. Really need to have your own space to put stuff as that’s less of an issue.
