Claireās mantra, thatās why we are always skint!
Nice looking thing here. Donāt know anything about them though.
Would guess it probably sounds nice into some HE speakers given it uses the less powerful ECL82 compared to the ECL86 in the AI 300, which I thought was a magical amp.
Yeah. Been looking for a small but nicely designed something for a small second system. Supposedly 12w a channel.
looks decent for the money!
Yes - I had single ended KT88 power amp - a DIY effort 30 years ago was my only amp for ten plus years - Massive transformers and chokes. Probably similar to the sales item - Sold it but shouldnāt have .
Iāve been using a Beard p50 for a couple of years but feel like a change even though I have no real complaints
Yep Itās always interesting trying something new at home
The same seller also has this rarity. Very nice.
You can buy my AI 300 for less!
Tempting.
Anyone fancy some soldering?

Interesting that they were made in the UK & nice looking iron but the RS caps donāt look original & Iād have said that the pricing is āambitiousā.
Yep, doing a bit of digging seems a bit murky on company name
Ling-Temco-Vought - Wikipedia .
Originally, Altec Services Company serviced the theater sound systems the company founders had helped develop. In 1941, the Altec Services Company purchased the nearly bankrupt Lansing Manufacturing Company and melded the two names, forming the Altec Lansing Corporation, and with the manufacturing capabilities of the former Lansing Manufacturing Company, they quickly expanded into manufacturing horn loudspeakers.
In 1958 the Altec Lansing Corporation was purchased by James Ling who made it part of LTV Ling Altec. LTV spun off Altec which it loaded down with debt first. By 1974, the company was saddled with debt. It was reorganized under Chapter 11 as Altec Corporation and continued for 10 years. Altec filed a second bankruptcy.
It would appear that Altec Lansing (famous now for their cinema speaker systems) were developing & manufacturing those in the 40ās and early 50ās.
The label on the rear suggests theyād been serviced by these people at one time.
