eBay stuff (Part 2)

I did bid up to my limit on that, but seems they’re still very popular.

Yes,they were £2-300 for years but getting close to £500

The tubes are getting harder to find as well

Yes,cost me quite a bit on a service for mine last year with new valves.
I have some Mullard and Phillips ones that need testing.

This seems to be a bit of a bargain at £150.

Will this solve my power amp quest? I know nothing about Pass amps and where this stands in the hierarchy…

  1. You’re asking people to guess what You will like. That is a bit silly.

  2. 18W - on a good day, with a following wind. With a laptop PSU…?

  3. No. IMVHO.

Mebbe sort a bakeoff, get sum peeps to bring stuff.

This.

Just remember there’s no rush is there? Take your time and you’re more likely to broaden your horizons and find something that matches that you really like.

Rushing is the path to expensive trial and error, filled with regret.

Wide and varied experience, insight and piss taking.

Thanks all. I’ll stop throwing darts at the moon and listen to the wise ones

The Amp Camp amp is designed to be a really easy build, not even requiring any mains power (it uses a laptop power supply). It has quite high distortion unless you’re at very low levels (and even then, it’s not great).

I’ve got one that I’m going to build in a month or two; the whole thing will cost about £100 and should be fun to build. The kits that are coming out at £400-odd are absurd; if you’re spending that kind of money you can get a much better Pass amp.

I was thinking @malbec might like a project!

Bloody hell that amp has done the rounds and won’t stay dead, wonder how many victims it has notched up?
